Afghan Music In Exile: Mashhad 2022 (June 2023)

Co-produced, promoted and released ‘Afghan Music In Exile: Mashhad 2022’: an album and film series showcasing some of Afghanistan’s most important folk and classical musicians, including Jawad Tabesh, Gholam Sakhi Rasuli, Asef Habibi, Aziz Ahmad Amiri, Nasim Khushnawaz and Vahid Delahang. Released 23 June 2023 on Worlds Within Worlds.

Led by Michel Gasco, the album was recorded in Mashhad, Iran in May 2022. This project was made possible due to a crowdfunding campaign led by Lachlan. 

The release received strong press attention, including a multi-page feature and 5 star review in Songlines Magazine, a dedicated feature in Bandcamp Daily, airplay on Spanish National Radio 3, and coverage from Afghanistan/Aftaab Magazine, Cyclic Defrost, The Attic, Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), Bloogfolk Magazine, and Foxy Digitalis.


A Tribute To The Music Of Afghanistan (May 2022)

Organised, promoted and performed at ‘A Tribute To The Music Of Afghanistan’: This event took place on 28 May 2022 at 107 Redfern, and featured performances from Emal Orya, Omid Azzimi, Indranil Choudhury, Lachlan Dale and Murtaza Damoon.

The event raised money for Afghan musicians left destitute by the Taliban’s persecution of artists, with donations going to the International Campaign For Afghanistan’s Musicians (ICFAM). The event was featured on SBS World News, and SBS Pashto.


Australian Tours for Qais Essar (USA) and Michel Gasco (SPN) (Aug & Nov 2022)

Organised and promoted tours from Qais Essar (USA) & Michel Gasco (SPN): Qais Essar is an Afghan-American rubab master performing Afghan and Indian classical music. Michel Gasco is a Khorasani and Arab music specialist from Spain.
